can u go back and change your key so it matches his?

the key is right. the melody isn't suppose to be the same a vocals.. because this isn't a cover.

i guess you have a more loose definition of key then me

It might be also do to the fact that t-pain sticks to around three notes for all his parts.... making "key" really loose.

they don't match at all.

ya, not at all. sorry.
lulz, you need new ears. the vox dont match at all.

They don't match, but it makes a lot of nice tension. There is most certainly some kind of mysterious harmonic relationship between the vocal and the music. How easy it is on the ears is another story. It feels like running up a steep hill, but maybe it's good exercise?

This is like crazy-advanced ear/mind yoga, but yoga is supposed to be done slooooooooow. At this pace I have to admit that I have the blossom of a headache coming on.

My recommendation is to try and build little bridges from the one key to the other, just some warm little hints that they can be related, and put some emphasis on where they clash.

Don't listen to these guys, votTypeDef. I think the vocals do match; quite compelling in fact. No, the new piece isn't in the same key as the original, and to me, that's a good thing. The vox melody still fits -- it's just been recontextualized, and not in a discordant way either, imo.

I think everyone has this impression that melody for the lead synth should follow the vocal lead note for note. The key issue is because I'm using minor key playing against a major key of vocals... Though it isn't atonal since they are using the same notes.

the vocals work fine, but wow do you need to make the whole track so loud?

Of course it needs to be loud... because it is totally mixed for your ipod.

man yah tha tension between the melody and the vocals is so outside, but i don't think i'd appreciate it as much if it hadn't been pointed out as conflict to me. best track i've heard all day. it's so goddamn weird sounding, but so fat
