there is distortion where it not belongs

always refreshing to hear some decent dub. very very nice track there... I like your previous release too

It all sounds good to me!

TYLTH....How familiar are you with the works and mixing techniques of Mikey Dread? ...He was adamantly opposed to compression on bass especially , and what you describe as "distortion where it not belongs(sic)" is a result of an old dub technique of feesing a TAPE delay back into a return channel on the mixing desk , which then enables you to actuall apply delay to itself by use of the Auxilliary send on the delays return channel....so basically ..a DELIBERATE sound/effect.... thanks for your insightful review though....If you would like to check any of my other projects though , I also make very clean /crisp /digital... minimal house /IDM/ downtempo /dubstep etc too so feel free to get in touch and I'll point you to some ..
thanks for listening guys

Is there no way to edit posts on this site? I just read what I wrote above and it sounds like Im trying to be a bit of a tw@ to Tylth....Not intentional , just pointing out that this tune is deliberately old-skool and a bit raggy round the edges in the true tradition of the OLD dub techniques. basically mixing on the fly with no pre-planning , just riding the track through the desk....I've since checked your tunes here tylth and really enjoyed them . I also like clean Techno with well defined space and sounds , and your latest upload is really good.
Ya Get Me Now? ;)

look cymasic, this is a well assembled piece of music, i like it (despite not knowing anything about mikey dread and his mixing techniques) and i can see how much work you must have put into it. there is alot of stuff going on, all the sounds and effects are well crafted, the bassline is great (could use a bit compression though :P), all in all a beautiful genre-fitting piece of dub.

the more it was dissappointing to hear this apparent fault in the mix (@ ~1:30mins in). suddenly a lowpass filter sets in i think and the stab echo is getting too loud and distorting. feedback on tape delay can get pretty loud in a short time, i think that is what caused it. i'm using headphones, and it's pretty obvious. don't know why nicknotis didn't hear it.

i have nothing against distortion and ruff sounding tracks, it's even pretty important in the clean plastic-sounding digital age i think, but it should be used artistically, not accidentially, like in this example.

yeah i see it was rude to comment with only a single sentence, i should take more time to comment a bit more detailed in the future.

and on a side note, click on the + next to the date in the right upper corner of your posts and a menu with options will open up, one of them is edit

I like it. I been listening to a couple newer reggae dudes lately and this compliments it nicely.

Tylth ...appreciate the response...and cheers for the heads-up on the edit function..nice one
