I reworked this track quite a bit, adding more textural and timbral differences between sections. I think the anticipation between sections works out better as well.

I did not add vocoder, but I did accentuate a pitchshifted line and added a little textural pizzicato.

Good? Bad? Ugly?

Thanks, Eric!

Ok, Monkey won the Foto spotting contest This time around

i liked this...i felt like i was riding the train to some divine place.

Accent is what I was after, not so much the method you used to achieve it....so HOORAY! I rly like the pitchy shifted bit, if I am identifying it correctly. Its quiet but totally cuts through.

This has an excellent sense of build, of momentum... which for me is what I love in ambient music.
I hate ambient music that just sits there going "I'm ambient. Yup, still ambient! I dont hafta do anything becuase... I'm Ambient!"

I like the textural differences... the sections are definitely sectioned, but totally smooth and cohesive.

With ambient music, I feel that if it isn't changing and establishing some sort of timeline, it's not worth listening to.

Although my problem is I usually do verse chorus verse structure and my final verse sounds exactly like my first (out of sheer laziness).

if the section in between is long enough, the listener has probably forgotten what the first one sounded like anyway.

Oh yeah, I forgot that mostly stoners listen to ambient

i want listen to the first one.
this one is plenty FINE!

bt thx

Thanks, all!

I always find developing ambient pieces hard and it's good to get feedback.

A lot of the times when I'm writing it, there is only one sound source, but it's split into multiple layers with crazy effects routings...so sometimes I am building the structures and the timbres of the piece with just envelope automation of these layers. So it's really easy for me to get lost. So I'm grateful for everyone's perspective.

reading is fundimental
