--> I've been working on an album with a friend of mine here in pdx focusing on the mix of electronics w/ live instruments. This first track is about 90% done, and I could definitely use some advice from you all. Thanks for listening!!!

nice and organic!
My only suggestion would be to replace the shaker with a real shaker (or if it is already a real shaker, dont be so good with your timing).
I'd experiment with some mild unnatural fx on the piano, too, just to see how a little delay or flanger sounded. Could suck, i dunno.

The mellow peinao and funky beats are a nice mix, downtempo goodness all around.

Sounds great! I would love that horn sound in the background to be a real one, or at least automate a little more volume swelling at emotional points to match the "real" instruments.

I've been really digging the Invisible Friend album, btw.

pretty cat ... looks like mine! Burmese?

ah ... the nose is too pointy..

nice track! great drums!

thanks for the feedback. I have the perfect plugin in pluggo (rye) to effect the piano. I'll try it out when I get home from work

I don't know anyone here in town who plays the horns, except for the sax. I'll keep my ear to the ground.

Wilkins is my cat's name. I have no idea what kind he is, except for being a shelter cat from FL.

I'm really stoked to be working w/ a live drummer for this project. He's pretty versatile, and it saves me time of finding a nice drum loop and cutting it up so it changes and sounds live.

I'm a little unhappy w/ the breakdown. Maybe I need a new tabla lick or something? I don't know ...

i like . . . the content is good...production suggestions were good.

nothing further needed.

Well, you wouldn't need live horns...as much as you should make that sound swell a little more - it seems flat and synthy compared to everything else.

definitely! Great idea. I'm going to give the track some work tonight.

And thanks for your comment on Invisible Friend, I'm glad you're enjoying it!

Sounds great to me. I like the subtle shifts in the groove.
The only thing I plain old didn't like was the tabla. It doesn't seem to mesh with the rest of the song, it was distracting and disruptive imo.

Also, atum is way better than you and me and everyone else on the planet, so we should all probably just give up on life.
Other than that, nice track.

nice work mike! great textures in here.
always a pleasure.

fuckign niceeeeeeeeeee man.. love it
