--> Been too long since I've written a song. So here's a dumb song I wrote this morning on the very first time I've had to work on music in almost 2 months!
This is the first song I've tried using my acoustic guitar on. They're hard to mix, but it's a rewarding sound when you start getting close to the way you want it.
I typically record the acoustic parts twice, then play each take simultaneously with one panned hard right and the other hard left- I only have one mic and it's a large diaphragm condenser, not well suited to the application.

great claps and country hero lyrics - your work always reminds me of Beck and I love Beck he is genius - this is lots of fun and I'm sure after a few more listens will be totally addictive....

In terms of room for improvement - the main beak could perhaps do with a little more variation and the fade in start!!!

good to have you back delta

thanks, room. I totally agree about the main beat- I admit that I hate programming percussion.
what about the fade?

oh man so Cash, really nice songwriting and the sounds are really cool, esp. those beautiful distorto chord hit thingies

sweet as hell. I relate to your last blog but as far as this release goes, it doesn't feel forced to me.
only thing I don't like is it I've gotten un-used to these levels of compression so it's kinda jarring at first. I just turned it WAY down and now it sounds OK.

oh the fade in start - would have been better with 4 bars of just beat then in with the guitars i reckon

this is f'ing great...

Awesome! Your stuff always has such interesting structure, Imma have to go back to this again just to make a mental map. Great to hear you're getting your mojo back. More please!

it's great to hear from you! your vocals always sound so rad!
i think im experiencing the same thing you describe, ... .. i theorize that if you get through a bunch of these sort of forced tunes you can get back to a worthwhile place

sometimes you just have to do a song or get a sketch down to remind yourself that you're a musician, and that this is something you can do. sometimes malaise or anxiety or perfectionism can get in the way of actually getting anything done... you can get stuck on the ideas you ALMOST have instead of getting down the ideas that you already have. Thats so evident in a lot of sound design, imho. I see alot of people using a really limited range of tools and sounds while they experiment a whole bunch with esoteric methods.
and regarding the vocals- i have a wicked chest cold, always makes for a deeper voice.

i'd call it rockabilly but its more cowbilly (cowboy western) and cash like. great listen. glad you get some mojo back.

been keeping tabs on your blog but I'm stoked to hear you making some music again

YESssSS!!

great stuff.
the beats sound alright to me. better a simple groove to keep it moving, than an overly fussy one.
love the synth solo

you should collaborate with an old time fiddle player, i could imagine some scratchy fiddle licks on this.

lol like a cover of Devil Went Down to Georgia?

haha yeah...that type of vibe.

but instead of dueling with the devil, you end up inviting him back for a smoke and a jam.
