sAMsKi - 1hr wonder...
Release StoreTags: messin..., experiment, 1 hour
-->
Yoy!
Um, I decided to do a tune in 1 hour...and here it is...
It aint super slick, had to make some quick decisions. The beat is a mixture of me doing that cheek poppy thing and hitting a sofa and some books The rest is played on keyboard and produced in cubase.
Not the most interesting of tunes but a fun exercise nonetheless. Actually took about 68mins...as I couldn't leave it how it was after 60...hah.
Hope this is enjoyable for someone...lalala.
Peace. Sam.
p.s. I think the levels are a bit low (all part of the rush) - whoops.

yoy - its got a minimal old human league/cabs feel about it with that synth
good to set limitations - helps you focus in on the work

I love your approach to percussion with this song. It really works. The synth actually reminds me a little of "Music for Adverts" era Black Dog. Well done for 68 minutes of work Sam.

sorry folks but I cant see any joy in listening nor watching unfinished or bad experimental stuff. Fine somebody learns to push some buttons but yet this is far away of being an artist and less a musician. Okay instead of sending the thumb down I really would love to see you working seriously and learn all the other stuff too. I give you my thumb up cause you started, so keep going.

sorry Grischa, but this made me lol. um...this was just a bit of fun, an experiment. i am glad i have got to a point where i don't have to take my music too seriously all the time. plus i like to get constructive criticism, which is what i am used to around here.
i have been making music of one kind or another for 24 years now, so forgive me if i find your tone somewhat patronising. i am not for a minute saying i am as good as i would like to be at it, but i'm at ease with my musical self - although a bit more time to do it would be nice
thanks for listening anyway, but excuse me if i dont let your comments put me off posting stuff like this again.

I'm a big proponent of fully realized songs too Grischa. But do you think that there's no value in doing highly constrained exercises? Do you think that Sam has learned nothing from making this? And do you somehow feel inconvenienced by having listened to the result?
I enjoyed listening to this release. And I appreciate the fact that it reminded me what value there is in doing quick musical exercises. Especially during busy times when making music would otherwise be impossible, these sort of tasks can be hugely beneficial.

That is exactly the case. I would've made no (finished) music at all if I hadn't constrained myself in this way, I just don't have the time right now. Sad but true. Sure I could've just learnt some stuff, which I do for at least one hour most days but because EM411 exists and becuase I felt that way inclined at the time, this tune was formed. Nothing more complex than that.
(not bashing you Grischa...of course if you feel that way it's fine by me )
