Still trying to get some kind of flow on the pc, it's getting better, I think I'll be able to start focusing more on the sounds than on getting all my stuff together. This is loops sampled from the machinedrum and arranged in ableton live. I'm having weird trouble with getting clean loops from the MD, I made the mistake to not warp stuff sample correct right from the start, so especially the hihats are a bit flaming, not exactly the kind of loose feel I want. Track is not entirely finished, but I'll let it sip for a while.
I focused mostly on the progression here, and on the twizzle sounds. Problems I see:
- melody is super cheese, but i kind of like it
- a bit too much twizzle and reverb shiz ?
- a bit too much at times
Things I like:
- I'm able to finally get the groove I have going on the machinedrum back into the PC a bit
- I'm starting to get better at sound design
Things I will focus on now:
- less cheese, deeper melodies, deeper kind of chords and dubs
- cleaner loops, instead of going all around the place with weird sounds and then getting lost
- getting solid progressions down, then overcoming that and going all weird while not losing the funk
- bigger and more solid bass foundation

i disagree as far as the reverb twizzle(?) shiz, i like it when the hats start coming in constantly on the offbeat that's where they start suffering i think, i like the pattern they do around 0:46 the best. and also the constant chords on the offbeat starting at 3:00 are a little too steady sounding for the rest, i like when they are reversed, maybe do that more often? the melody is good, gives just the right amount of accessibility.

i really like the drumworks on this one. maybe it would be cool to not have a single drum loop in the whole track and play around all the time with the drums instead, i like that kind of techno. the bleepy melody was a little too bright imo, maybe something a little less obvious, more implied would work better? i think you're right about the reverb, some sounds would work better if they were drier and more 'strict'. i would also mix the drum glitches & fx heigher, maybe at the same level as the main drum loop, but i'm fond of this kind of drum wankery so i'm probably biased.

Yeah the chords will definitely get "dubbed" (tweaking fx live), with filter and delay. Will check to see for the hats, I think keep the offbeat pattern (that's one of the defining points), but vary the sounds a bit more. Will check for the melody, it's too in front and too obvious, you're right. Will see what I can come up with.

I like the intro a lot, you got me nodding along right at the very beginning. There is actually a nice melody going with the bass in that intro section that the blippy melody ends up taking over, if you could find a way to tweak that melody sound and interplay with the bassline that would be sick. I don't know about you but I have this problem where I get stuck on a certain melodic line and have to keep it in the track even when it should be chopped out. This happened on my last release. I like the progression, the intro could get twisted in the middle of the song. Really looking forward to the finished version of this ;)
I like what you did with the twizzles and reverbs in this track a lot it gives it a very nice funky dub feel.

thx proj, i have that exact same problem. i love my schmelodies, but i think i should just throw them away. I will definitely try to identify the really groovy interlocks between the bass and shiz, and try to work that into the melody as well. I'm starting all these tracks using my patterns from the machinedrum where I spent a long time working on those "interactions", and they easily get lost when I move it over to the computer.

you are back and you make my day. as always. love your stuffs. i can has more? ableton warp made me dizzy. you use that well.
fun listen. plenty of bits involved to keep one entertained and interested. you have pointed out all the dislikes and likes so that kinda breaks the point of feedback from me? no? ok. i likes. peace!

i really dig those chords, they add lots of depth to the track.
i found that he bass rumbles too much for me taste. it's a little too much and a little too bright.
the second chords are amazing, but sound a little muffled to me. maybe give them a little more space on the upper frequencies.
concerning the structure and the arrangement, i have the feeling you are rushing a little through the track. i'd be really happy to hear another percussion layer in the beginning, and bring in the dubby chord quite a bit later and maybe make the track center around them and add the second chords in the last third. maybe even try some tonal changes in the beats, because they sound a little too repetitive (for my taste)
and get rid of the bleepy meoldy. seriously. i think it kills a lot of the deepness this track has to offer.
