astroid/math hero: giant chunks
Release StoreTags: jazz, electro-math, wank prog
-->
so, here's one of the first results of my experiments to play astroid power-up! type electro-jazz live.
what's happening, if it's not fairly obvious, is that every other bass drum hit is triggering the bass (which is being sent through my g2 and out to the evolver). The wankings on top of it are from a bunch of lfos, sample and holds, and triggers, routed semi-cleverly together, and then fixed into the chord changes by a quantizer which keeps pace with the bass notes.
what am i playing? i have my sweaty grips on a series of 16 sliders which control which algorithm is being played, the tone of the leads, and a bunch of other stuff. i have better control over the bass and the overall tone of the piece, too, but i didn't show that here. too busy wankin'!
so, be gentle, i know it's long and doesn't really pick up until about 3 minutes. it's been a long time since i've thought about live music, and i haven't gotten too much of a chance to make this very "musical" yet.
the drummer on this is Nate Wood-he recorded this on another track and then i re-appropriated it here.
