Muzik 4 machines is a minimal electro tech project from Montreal, Canada. Performing Live with hardware sequencers and synthesizers, it creates a plethora of sounds ranging from electro to drum and bass, always with the same minimalist modus operandi; Distorted analog and punchy sampled drums, a few monophonic tracks, lots of effects and constant sonic mangling and tweaking.

It all began in 1991 with a Portastudio, a guitar and a TR-707 drum machine; early compositions were a mix between early house and grunge music, mixing the 4 on the floor rhythm with loud fuzz guitar. As the technology evolved, so did the Project; recruiting performers and signers and buying, finding or building new gadgets and sound mangling devices. When computer became powerful enough to generate and process sound, a new page of M4M history started.

The Music also evolved from simple riffs over a steady beat to more complex and mysterious texture in some works and at the same time exploded into Rave party music in others. They got some good charts apparition online and even sold Cd's worldwide on the then underground mp3.com website that since closed.

Over the years, different styles were explored as the personel changed (house, techno, drum and bass, rock, noise rock, pop, trance, and some unclassifiable sounds). Guests including Luke, MisterW, YUL and DP participated to different Live events and recordings (all available online).

Back to minimal electro house, Muzik 4 Machines is now producing new material, performing it live, and distributing it via bit torrent and youtube.

I mastered it a bit to bring levels up as i recorded it with a BIG safety margin as there is no going back with a live recording

so? how many times are you gonna post the same tracks over and over again.
and thanks for your gearlist ………………(again)
btw. did you use a computer at some point?

just curious
i love it when idiots try to make you look bad by posting a link of their "bad ass shit" only to realize that its some pasty fucker sitting in front of a laptop being a miserable failure...
by out at shows you mean in your mom's basement...nice try.
you're from a state more known for its habitual inbreeding than EM...I bet your parents are fantastic musicians...and siblings.
I'm surprised you can even spell wisconsin...oh wait..you can't.
If I had a dollar for every "artist from [insert random shitty european country here]" egomaniacal wannabe I've met on the internet I'd buy you some class.

Everyone needs to go back and watch your shitty video we're supposed to learn from and realize what kind of quality folk YOU hang out with. Looks like the four dork-etteers in a dark room w/ a laptop.

I'm 45 min away from 3.5 million people. You're from an igloo living in a swamp hanging out with rejects you picked up from the latest comicon. That combined with the fact that I'm easily a decade older than you makes you the biggest idiot I've met online in the past year.

Musik4 your setup is pimp and you've got some good shit. Keep it up.
You could use some more video footage, and your url's need help, but good job.
Please leave St.Louis out of this
it's a live act, i won't compose 2 hours of music every week jsut to play, i just play them differently

as for the URL, they are supposed to be URL, not embedded flash, i thing em411 parses the links and extract the embed, which was what i didnt want, and the BBCode img tag seems to fsck up

i'd have more footage if I could buy 3 other cams, but i have better things to buy than dv cams(ie, music gear)

i made the choice to go with (very) limited hardware because having 256 tracks and softsynths available jsut made me wander through different synhts instead of making music, with something like an MKS where patch recall is weird to say the least, i just start from scratch and actually create sounds, and it's part of the act, i almost never have to change resets as i make the sounds as I go (except certain "songs" where i need a special sound i can't really mak eon the fly(liek enveloppe that SEEMS to be tempo sync'ed

and to masterbitcher in the 1st post, please link us to YOUR live sets
so. ok you did this liveset. thats cool. and i can really see the effort.
but …so what? lots of us did. no reason to spam this over and over again.

and heck yes even for a laptop-artist like me, creating a liveset takes up a huge amount of time. still i don't post my set again and again.

and i find your sort of investigative tone of "please link us to YOUR live sets" really amusing. hey you discovered something: my livesets suck. because i use a computer and because it's so much easier, right? it seem less effort means less value in your world. and probably i don't even have any, because guess what: live sets with a laptop aren't livesets, so how could i claim to ever have played live, when i just played pacman on stage while wanking off to youporn-vids, just rght after i hit play on itunes

it's great that you already seem to know, how much less valueable and less good my liveset is.
but i don't have to prove anything. not to this community, that i've been part of for about 6 years or such.

and please post your liveset. i haven't heard it often enough.

and heck yes. i may came across a little rude, but you know what - the only time i seem to witness you here, is when you post your liveset the 20th time. i never saw you contribute to discussions or helping other people out, when they had problems.
sorry i came rude, i didnt meant at all your livesets were less or more valuable than mine

if a band plays several gigs with the same songs in different orders it's ok, but if I play the same song (in very differnt ways if you have listened, youll notice no 2 livesets are the same because it's improvisation

i could post all 300 or so different songs i have, but i don't see the point in posting done work for commenting, as it's done(and most of them have lost all their files in a studio fire(i know i should hae had an offsite backup, but i'm an amateur, i don't have that sort of money, and it's also why i went back to hardware, less chances of losing my data, and having an offsite(bank vault) of 2-3 memory cards is cheap compared to 10 terabytes of HD that i would need to start every month or so so the heads don't stick(and dvd are meant to last 6 years or so, and at 4, 8 and even on BD at 50GB a pop, its still the painiest of the pains to burn))

and just FYI i posted this live set 4 times in total, not 20, and i'll post it after every gig (but i'll stop posting rehearsals i get it) cause IMOHO(and people that see me play) it's really something different every night, some noghts i can spend 1 hour in a set jamming with the kaossilator and KP3 only in any requested style, some others the crowd is a dancing/club crowd and I just play a continuous electro set

honnestly i don't see what bothers you that much, it's not like you receive an email every time i post or something i mean it's just there a little square in a column in a page

and again, i never said it was less value using a laptop, hell, my fave producer ATm uses only a laptop and monome/lemur and gives the hottest performances, all I said is that after 15 years of software, i seen it all and prefer to put limitations on my self to get more creative, i was talking about ME, and only me, never even alluded to you in that

oh, and BTW, i don't use a computer on those tracks
(but will use live as a vocal sampler from now on as the redsound is just not made for that and I need longer loops to remix a new order i got(and they want it live, not made in logic as I had intended to do, so live as a slave it will be from tonight on)

anyway, i would help(i didn't even know there was a help section, but as it's my fuull time job, when i'm off, i don't feel like doing work (i'm a pro audio salesman/DAW teacher/clinician in the day), sorry
k. so no harm done here.

thing is with this site, that it's not just about releasing tracks. this is mainly a forum (or at least it used to be)
people come here for discussion on electronic music, ask for help with machines, just socialize and things like that. using this as a release-outlet seems kinda pointless to me. and just releasing tracks here and not posting anithing besides leaves a foul taste – at least for me. because it's neglecting the whole aspect of a community and comes quite close to myspace-like spamming-behaviour, where people i never heard of nor seem to show interest in me or in a discussion, just want to get their shit out.
i'm not saying it's the same, but it has some similarities.
maybe just chime in here and join the full thing. get involved and shit. i'm pretty sure, this will be more rewarding than just posting releases.
i'm a long time reader, i'm just not a poster as i mentioned

and i've been pretty bashed on on some other site i used to help for years jsut cause some members got a grudge against me, so i try not to post on any forums now jsut so haters leave me alone
sorry to have offended you, i won't post anymore
hey hey. no need to get defensive.
everythings fine. and to be honest, i'm pretty sur, that this place here has one of the lowest contributers to troll ratio ever witnessed
try KvR if you want THE worst ratio of troll to humans
nobody visits kvr-forums at free will. nuts
