--> This one came together pretty quickly by my standards. I wrote the first synth part a couple weeks ago, and threw an Isaac Hayes drum loop under it. Something about that simple arrangement really worked for me, but I left it alone and let it percolate for a little while. When I came back to the file, I finished the entire song in 2 sittings of a couple hours each, probably. It could use some work still (especially some variation in the drums!), and there are some structural aspects that I might tweak, but I'm feeling pretty good about it. It feels sort of delicate, yet driving to me.

I like it. very nice writing and structure

it's pretty expansive

get that great lead line (that comes in later) to blend more in size and room (like echo) with the rest, particularly that paddy in the back.

I like it too. Keep it simple.

this has a very nice 'open feel' to it

yeah nice.

i think you could hold off on the drum loop for a minute or so... at least the snare and kick, i don't feel the beat adds much...
The bassline is more the rhythmic driver anywho.
I dunno, I'm torn. The drums are very "delicate" so maybe thats a good glue throughout.

I'm thinking maybe I'll keep the drums where they are, but maybe highpass them or something...then open them up when the bass hits.

The more I listen, the more I think there's room for one more bit of melodic development in the second half. Maybe more variation in the pad sound too.

YEs, this is nice. Sweet feel to it.
Lovely

I've listened to this several times, and I like it more and more.
I love the changes, and the writing overall is superb but I have this to add:

I think I have a beef with the drums' brightness and overall space... they sound too crisp and reverby... would you darken them up at all?

I really think you've written a great piece here. Are you satisfied, tho, with all the post production stuffs?
I say this b/c I get a piece that I really like and then go over and over the post stuff because I don't know what I'm doing there.

Ah, I'm still working on the post production aspect. Most of the stuff I post here is probably about 80% finished....the composition and arrangement is usually pretty solid, but I end up reworking the individual sounds, the overall mix, the reverb and panning, the dynamics, etc. before I consider a track truly "Done". This one is definitely still being toyed with.
