He Can Jog - Burn
Release
StoreTags: sketch, sing
Author: hecanjog on February 21 2009
--> Here's something I've been working on for the last couple days. I'm not much of a singer, but I'm giving it my best shot! Recorded vocals on the pinhole mic in my laptop to hopefully mask my bad signing with a little noise and grit, but I'm not sure if I should record them again on a decent mic and just try to sing it better! The lyrics are pretty emo, dudes. Watch out.

Hi Erik

Sleepy tired piece

I like it - the grainy quality is nice - the words are not crystal clear but that is the effect?

love the music and the innocence of the aesthetic - enjoyed it.

hot shit. love that kick sound.

this is exquisite. i say rerecord the lyrics on a nicer mic and sing just the same ;o).

i liked this a lot, simple arrangement - great result. i'm listening to it on crappy laptop speakers and the vocal part sounds just a little 'electro', not badly recorded.

I think it's a good idea to record the vocals with a nicer mic, it sounds like you could bring out a lot more expressiveness and intimacy. I would advise you to keep the vocals nice and clean.

I don't think the lyrics are too emo at all, they sound quite mature.

Getting into vocals is a great way to make your music more approachable. I'm sure you'll find a wider audience if you continue along this path.

Hey! This is nice. I agree about the vocals. I don't find them emo in the slightest. I also like the quality of the vocals. If you did re-sing them with a better mic, would you then degrade them to achieve this sound?

I'd say that the vocals are the weakest link, as the instrumentation is excellent.

emo is a bullshit term these days don't let it's farce prevent you from what you want to do.

If you held a bit more notes .. it'd almost have a Kevin Shields quality to it.

i like the grainy grittiness to it.
i like how the ambience cuts through the microphone.

although there'S some frequencies – at least on my laptop speakers – that sound a little too resonating.

great track. thanks for sharing. i think you should do more stuff with yourself singing
