fake lp5 era autechre
Release
Author: astroid on October 05 2006
--> 1.start with a loop of some noisey, rythymic audio (aka drums)
2.set up a long effects chain in the nord g2
3.set up the effects so that a midi note triggers a certain part of the chain, another midi note triggers another part of the chain
4.put in some midi notes triggering the fx to taste, but loop them at a different length from the track
5.make a little synth in the G2, put in similar envelopes triggered by midi (like in step 3) to control various bits of the timbre-namely stuff like PWM, and FM, to liven it up.
6. write a little melody that sounds like it's circular
7. write another longer melody with a simpler synth that sounds less cyclical.

lol don't sound too suprised haha

since I've never used a g2, I don't entirely know what you did. But it sounds nice. How would you do it in Live?

ok, 1)player no work for me now(surprise)
and 2) do you know if the triggering of fx is possible in the G1 nord modular? it seems like i had made a patch that kind of did this, but it was wonky and i can't remember how i did it...

this is better then autechre..

Yeah, I agree with jdg - much more cohesive and beautiful than recent autechre.

Back in the day, we used to have a song called "fartechre".

i was thinking about that-this was done really quick, maybe under an hour-i wanted to post it in the music section as a "technique illustration" to see if i could ego some regs out of their silence and give me tips.

i don't use live, but the essential thing is the midi triggering of envelopes which open up effects. in pluggo, you'd set up a "midi to control" unit to an "envelope generator" and then use the envelope generator to tweak certain parameters in your fx chain. or to open up parameters in your synthesis chain or whatever. the midi thing is how i got the fx squabbles so tight-filter sweeps mixed with delay tweaks.
