fake lp5 era autechre
Release
Author: astroid on October 05 2006
--> 1.start with a loop of some noisey, rythymic audio (aka drums)
2.set up a long effects chain in the nord g2
3.set up the effects so that a midi note triggers a certain part of the chain, another midi note triggers another part of the chain
4.put in some midi notes triggering the fx to taste, but loop them at a different length from the track
5.make a little synth in the G2, put in similar envelopes triggered by midi (like in step 3) to control various bits of the timbre-namely stuff like PWM, and FM, to liven it up.
6. write a little melody that sounds like it's circular
7. write another longer melody with a simpler synth that sounds less cyclical.

ah yes--delays do come in handy for the processing...

so let me see if i understand you correctly: you have a long fx chain, right, but you are using envelopes on each of the individual fx modules to sweep from dry to processed and back? for instance, a filter would use an envelope to close the cutoff upon a keypress, and then snap back to open when you let off the key?

i think this may be another difference between g1 and g2--on the g2, most parameters have a modulation input, right? i've not played around with the g2 demo enough..it runs like crap on my macbook..

yes. exactly. so, much of the timbre changes as the song progresses are just tweaking the length of the envelopes.

the "mod delay" (which is used twice here) has a modulation input
the "bit reducer" has a frequency input
the "nord filter" has a pitch and a "linear fm" input

sometimes you gotta work around things, use the "multiplier" module to envelope one thing to another. that's the way it works with fm, if you wanna put these artificial envelopes in there-you have the modulator osc running to one half of the multiplier, and then the envelope (on the other half) says how much of that signal goes through.

alright, badass...even though the g1 is kinda light on the mod inputs, this still gives me plenty of ideas...thanks man!

and do more of these! please!

i think astroid awallowed cbit's brain in an effort to absorb his glitch talents.
I think its working.

ERSATZTECHRE

this song sucks ass

lol d&d

PSIONICS

i could never have the patience for psionic attacks. but i never really played for real. i'd just roll up characters and marvel over the monsters in the fiend folio and the deities and demigods...
