--> my set from stfu helsinki 14/10/06
due to a disaster with the minidisks this is not the actual recording of me playing live but is actually the same set rerecorded at home but without the improvised bit at the end (which was the best bit)
link
eddie (monty/the dub chieftan) recorded my actual live set on his mp3 recorder but its low rate and very distorted (it didnt sound like that) but here it is anyway
link
i used 2 mmt8's and a dx100 (2 sequencers and an fm synth)
the dx100 is monotimbral so itll only play 1 program at a time which means i cant layer different sounds so i had to put program changes before each hit which made programming quite difficult
the last 1/2 or 1/3 was desperately programmed in the 2 days before my set while at the hostel in helsinki
i didnt get a chance to go over the whole thing and set levels so it starts quiet and its really trebly (cheap headphones)
most of it was preprogrammed and just left to play by itself but i couldnt help interfering a bit (you can hear me ruining it in places in the live one and the home recorded one)
the last 6-8 mins of eddies live recording is me hitting the track mute buttons on the mmt8s while it plays 1 bar loops- this is the best bit- i shouldve not bothered programming songs and just jammed with loads of loops but i wanted to try sequencing songs (first time)
its a bit crap but fun aswell
stfu helsinki was ace
everyone elses sets were cool
thanks to all of them

This is fucckin ill.

I really like the overdriven live version and love the aesthetic. Layering sounds is for chumps (at least in my book) . Only gripe is I wish there was some more, faster, arder, 200bpm+ gabba beatz.

Awesome.

cheers
i was actually considering having a getting faster rave moment in it but never did in the end

Are you going to play a similiar set in Glasgow Joel?

i still dont know yet- if i dont get anything different sorted out ill bring the same equpiment and write some more loops (i wont play the same songs)
ive been imagining self triggering amens and sine waves- it sounds quite exciting in my head but might take too long to organise myself to do it

this was epic live.

the home-recorded version is pretty cool as well.
gives a better idea of the range of frequencies you used.

cant wait to hear what you'll unleash in glasgow.
