hey everybody. i was looking at buying the revolution and saw that the mobius is ending production, and you can pick it up for like 400 bucks. anybody have any opinions on it? is it worth 400 dollars if i have no CV/gate controlled synths (yet) and use a computer for sequencing? is it handy for coming up with sequences you wouldn't normally think of on a computer?

mine arrived a few days ago. I haven't played with it fully yet as i have some important things coming up which i need to focus on. I only set it up and tested it out. Seems very good, i am actually using it to control a korg prophecy and softsynths only. With the prophecy it is really great! especially having both hands free most of the time to play with all of its benders and wheels.

Anyway my advice to everyone is to have as many different ways of generating your music as possible. Each sequencer option on the market offers a different way of working and can lead to do different musical styles. There is a good reason why mpc is associated with hip hop and logic is associated with cheesey trance music: the work flow and tools they provide lend themselves well to those specific genres. So the more workflow options you have the more flexibility you can achieve. Just my opinion nothing more.

it has way more features for cv/gate users than midi. you might be kinda disappointed shelling out 400 for a midi step sequencer in all honesty. if you just want that style of sequencing you might as well just get an EA1 for $100.

GET THE Revolution..I kick myself in the ass every day for not getting a 777 when they were out. When you buy the Revolution You get the Mobius, analog 303 emulation, the REMIX function is sick for creating on the fly acid lines, analog thru filter, digital delay and other efx. My fav part is that you can take an audio signal and plug it into the cv/gate for wild basslines. The website displays how cool it is when a 909 kick line is inputted to the cv in. Plus the headphone out into the audio in is wild self resonatig going on.
If your looking for a 303 seq for a 303 clone w/ no seq? Audiorealism Bassline does MIDI out and they got that TB seq licked. There is a MAM seq that is kinda the same I think, they float around eBay for under $200. But Mobius is cool..specially if you get an XS or expand to some cv/gate gear.

oh dont worry i am definitely getting the revolution whenever they build some more this month. heh.

i was debating whether or not to get the mobius on top of that. which i probably wont, due to what jarvis has to say.

i think w/the revolution a mobius is kind of redundant. + w/teh revolution you get pattern remix feature and it's so easy to chain patterns together. you can get revolutions used for anywhere from $550-$650. i've seen them go pretty cheap on various forums and ebay.

alrighty so i just got my revolution. there's something RATTLING AROUND INSIDE!!! WTF!?

could be some rebel scum.

no idea. mine does not rattle. could be a loose screw or perhaps someone dropped a large diamond in there when they were building it.

where'd you get it from?

big city music.

the website doesnt mention anything about a return policy so i'm bugging.

your probably right about a loose screw, though.
i did plug it in, however.

hot machine. very nice.

big city music has a good reputation. if you bought it new i'd get them on the phone and tell them there's something loose inside and to send you another one. unless it's a non issue

yea, i called them and left a message. and sent an email.

its good to hear they a have a decent rep. though. thanks, ig.

basically they told me to talk to future retro :S

hopefully jered is willing to fix it ...

you should not accept that answer from them! If it didn't get to you in full working condition then you just got scammed. You have to stand up for yourself or music shop guys will walk all over you and having you walking out the door with shit that you do not want, do not need and possibly does not work.

i just want a well built unit with nothing flying around in it is all. i told the guy at future retro i'll be sending it COD as im not paying to ship it twice. havent heard back yet. i dont mind waiting.
