try M-audio trigger finger
cheap and good
link

i use one.

i the padKontrol in conjunction with live's drum rack, and set to trigger control changes with the beat repeat or instajungle and triggering clips is great too, so playful and intuitive

i think it's better than the mpd because of the lights and the xy pad and how fast you can switch the 16 scenes

the plastic case is not my thing though, i might eventually craft my own out of wood or plexiglas

here, have a look (listen) at this release, one of the first jams i did with the pk, and my very enthusiastic exchange about the device with fora.

+1 4 the Pad Kontrol. It has a nice feel and is super easy to setup and change settings for each pad.

Elronhubbard, what do you mean with:
"i got one with a broken knob you can have if you pay shipping." ?

Oh shit.. this is bluermutt actually... writing wih Fredo account.. confusing... :-)

sorry bluermutt:

already been traded.

oh ok.. thanks anyway

These vids are a must see and I'm sure you'll be sold on a padkontrol...Im not gonna even begin explaining just watch em..

They convinced me I want one now!

i don't know what you're using, but on intel macs the trigger finger is quite unstable when run through usb (direct midi is much better, but still...). i've never used a padkontrol, but the ONLY downside is that it's only got two switches. i like switches.

if the lack of nubs and faders don't bother you, get one.

i had to buy an evolution fader/nub box to compensate, but the x/y makes up for it.

mad props for the heads up on nativekontrol..

looks like the missing link i need.
