check out the Fostex 6301, the're pretty good. also they look more "pro" than the iLouds, consider that if aesthetics is a factor.
Leaning towards the Genelecs for now
@delete what'd you end up with? Leaning towards Genelec too (8010). You?
Huge fan of my Yamaha HS8s with a subwoofer. Nothing beats blind shootouts.
@dshay: thanks for the heads up! Those are NICE looking. Are the subs necessary? Did you compare the HS8's to anything else?
i have the HS 7 now, and compared to the KRK Rokit 5 (1st gen) i previously used, they kick ass. very happy!
@tylth cool, ty for the opinion. Have you tried the Genelec 8010 or any others in this price range?
@bogdan nah, as they would be too small for my taste. i was looking at krk v6 and genelec m040 a bit further up the price range. decided to go with the yamahas after i checked them out a a friend's place. note that the bass port is on the rear, which can be troubling when set up too close to a wall. they are much more revealing than the krk rokits.i feel like i need to remix all my projects now i also like their brutalist look with the screws on the front panel and the white speakercones.
@tylth ahh, that's really useful to know (about rear placement). I've had issues with that in the past. I looked at m040 too but so expensive! Looking at the Focal Alpha 50 as well, did you try that one?
@bogdan the focal cms series is half the price currently, very tempting. if you like flat and analytical sounding speakers you might want to check them out.
@tylth nice, but a bit rich for my tastes.
@bogdan what do you mean by "rich" - the price, the sound?
@tylth pardon, I meant the price.
@bogdan well, here's to any revenue for running EM411!!
